ITPO Germany Delegate Programme

Capacity Building for investment promotion

The Delegate Programme is one of UNIDO ITPO Germany’s flagship activities, inviting investment and/or technology promotion delegates for a short-term stay in Germany. The objective of the program is to connect with German and European companies, to present investment opportunities from the Delegate’s host country to potential investors and to strengthen the delegate’s network of contacts to German institutions, investors, and technology providers. Their packed agenda is comprised of pre-arranged business meetings, investment seminars and conferences as well as visits to specialized trade shows and companies.

With the Delegate Programme, UNIDO ITPO Germany supports capacity building for partner organizations from developing countries and emerging markets. The target group includes committed individuals from investment promotion agencies and other business development organizations, ministries as well as dynamic and innovative start-ups and companies.

Delegate Programme 2020

ITPO Germany received more than 70 applications for the Delegate Programme 2020. After a thorough evaluation, ITPO Germany selected 15 delegates from 10 countries. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the envisaged program for delegate visits could only partially be implemented. Yet, ITPO Germany managed to invite numerous representatives of African companies and embassies to the Investment Management Exhibition 2020, including two representatives of the Senegalese Investment Promotion Agency APIX.

Delegate Programme 2019

In April 2019, three delegates from Morocco, Senegal and Ethiopia participated in the UNIDO booth and trade show program at the Hannover trade fair. During the second week, the ITPO Germany team accompanied the delegates to the BAUMA trade show for construction and mining machinery in Munich and arranged company visits and expert meetings with partner organizations in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

In November 2019, the delegate program focused on start-ups from Nigeria and Iran. Five delegates were invited to exhibit and pitch their technologies and companies at the Agritechnica trade show.
