Remscheid, 28 – 29 May 2024
For the fourth time, ITPO Germany co hosted the Future Cleantech Festival, organized by Future Cleantech Architects in cooperation with UNFCCC, European Innovation Council and IRENA. At the event, policy makers, private sector and institutional partners gathered, to discuss the latest developments in hard-to-abate sectors such as construction, shipping, aviation or energy.
ITPO Germany organized a panel discussion on sustainable and affordable construction featured by innovative companies offering solutions for the sector. Stefan Wittek (B.T. Innovation GmbH), Isabel Faller (Polycare), Adital Ela (Criaterra Innovations), Michael Tekabe (Kubik Inc.), discussed how new construction methods can not only lower greenhouse emissions but also help developing countries to create new jobs and new value chains while also creating modern housing in their growing cities. The panel was moderated by ITPO Germany deputy head Vanessa Völkel and Expert Andreas Schäfer.
One of the key takeaways of the discussion is that norms and regulations that focus on material input rather than outcome are often holding back innovative solutions. Regulations should be in line with the latest developments in the sector.
